VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK
Volcanoes National Park is part of the Virunga Mountains formed by a chain of dormant volcanoes in the North of the country.
Also world reknown for being the home to the world´s last surviving mountain Gorillas
To trek those famed mountain gorillas is one of the highlights of the expedition in Rwanda.
Volcanoes National Park is approximately 13,000 hectares and was formed 1929 during the Belgian colonial.
The park’s altitude ranges from 2,400 to 4,507 meters above sea level, Karisimbi volcano being the highest top at 4,507 meters.
Besides gorilla trekking, Volcanoes National Park has a lot of other attractions. Visitors can do various treks and walks such as visiting the remains of the Karisoke Research Center where Dian Fossey is buried and visit her tomb. You can also visit the recently habituated Golden Monkey – another of Rwanda’s world unique attractions.

GORILLA GUIDELINES
• Maintain a distance of 7m (about 22 feet) from the gorillas.
• Viewing time 1 hour,
• Only 8 visitors maximum are allowed per group.
• Spitting in the park is strictly prohibited
• Should you need to cough, cover your mouth and turn away from the gorillas.
• Keep your voice low,
• try not to make rapid movements, because that may frighten the gorillas.
• If a gorilla should charge or vocalize at you, do not be alarmed, stand still and follow your guide’s directions.

Located in eastern of the country, with large variety of savannah animals, lakes and rivers. LAKE KIVU
Swimming or Sunbathing on Lake Kivu’s white-sanded beach is the ideal to relax after exploring Rwanda’s many attractions. Here you will have an opportunity to visit different islands in the lake and to relax at the Lake Kivu Serena Hotel, which is right on the beach.
NYUNGWE FOREST NATIONALPARK
One of the largest mountaineous forest in eastern Africa, Nyungwe Forest, is situated in the South of Rwanda, and has 1000 sq.km.
Nyungwe has been protected as a forest reserve since 1933.
The main attraction here are the primates. 13 primates’ species are found here, such the common chimpanzee, eight types of monkey, colobus monkeys and the Ruwenzori colobus. Few Leopards can be found as well as other smaller predators such as golden cats. You will also find over 300 species of birds and 100 types of orchids.
Nyungwe Forest Activities require a good level of physical fitness.
